Silicom’s Quad Port Gigabit Ethernet Bypass front connectors server adapter is a PCI-Express X8 Bypass network interface adapter that provides a front-panel connector, cables and LED assemblies to allow port access and LED displays at the front of the server.

The Silicom’s Quad Port Gigabit Ethernet Bypass front connector is designed to servers that support adding connectors at the front. The Silicom’s Quad Port Gigabit Ethernet Bypass front connector includes a closed metal bracket at the back of the server, cables and the front panel-connector installed at the front of the server.

The Silicom’s Quad Port Gigabit Ethernet Bypass front connector server adapter supports Normal and Bypass modes. In Normal mode, the ports are independent interfaces. In Bypass mode, all packets received from one port are transmitted to adjacent port.

In Bypass mode, the connections of the Ethernet network ports are disconnected from the interfaces and switched over to the other port to create a crossed connection loop-back between the Ethernet ports. Hence, in bypass mode all packets received from one port are transmitted to other port and vice versa. This feature enables to bypass a failed system and provides maximum up time for the network.

The Silicom’s Quad Port Gigabit Ethernet Bypass front connector server adapter includes an on board WDT (Watch Dog Timer) controller. The on board controller can Bypass the Ethernet ports on host system failure like Power Off, System hangs or software application hangs.

The Silicom’s Quad Port Gigabit Ethernet Bypass front connector server adapter is based on Intel 82571 Dual port Gigabit Ethernet MAC+PHY of Intel Controller.
