Silicom’s Security Accelerator and Dual Port Copper Multifunction Bypass Server adapter is integrative PCI Express X8 adapter that include Security Process accelerator and Bypass Gigabit Ethernet ports on a PCI Express adapter.
Silicom’s Security Accelerator and Dual Port Copper Multifunction Bypass Server adapter is based on Cavium NITROX CN1620 security processor accelerator and Intel 82575 Gigabit Ethernet controller. Silicom’s Security Accelerator and Dual Port Copper Multifunction Bypass Server adapter is complete PCI Express server adapter solution that incorporates Gigabit Ethernet ports and security processor accelerator for IPSec, IKE, SSL and TLS protocol processing. Silicom’s Security Accelerator and Dual Port Copper Multifunction Bypass Server adapter is the ideal solution for implementing multiple network segments, mission-critical high-powered networking applications and environments within high performance servers, and targeted to security servers / security appliances.
Silicom’s Security Accelerator and Dual Port Copper Multifunction Bypass Server adapter provides bulk cryptographic acceleration for 3DES, DES, AES and ARCFOUR symmetric encryption algorithms, for the SHA-1 and MD5 hash algorithm, and for the HMAC-SHA-1 and HMAC-MD5 keyed authentication algorithms. It provides public key acceleration for the RSA, DSA, and diffie-Helman asymmetric algorithms, as well as basic Modular Math functions. Silicom’s Security Accelerator and Dual Port Copper Multifunction Bypass Server adapter provides a True Random Number Genrator and can use it to generate on-chip random values for Diffie-Helman key generation and DSA signatures.
Silicom’s Security Accelerator and Dual Port Copper Multifunction Bypass Server adapter provides combined encryption and HMAC authentication for single authentication for single-pass Ipsec processing. It also executes protocol-specific instruction to support the SSL/TLS or IPsec/IKE security protocols.
Macro processing within the CN1620 processor, allows systems to offload high-level SSL or IPsec protocol commands that reduce the host I/O traffic and system processor to increase the total system throughput. This also frees system processor resources for other functions, increasing overall system performance.
Silicom’s Security Accelerator and Dual Port Copper Multifunction Bypass Server Adapter support Normal, Bypass and Disconnect modes.
In Normal mode, the ports are independent interfaces. In Bypass mode, all packets received from one port are transmitted to adjacent port. In Disconnect mode, the adapter simulates switch / rout cable disconnection.
In Bypass mode, the connections of the Ethernet network ports are disconnected from the interfaces and switched over to the other port to create a crossed connection loop-back between the Ethernet ports. Hence, in bypass mode all packets received from one port are transmitted to other port and vice versa. This feature enables to bypass a failed system and provides maximum up time for the network.
In Disconnect mode, the adapter simulates switch / router cable disconnection. In Disconnect mode, the switch / router does not detect link partner of the adapter.
Silicom’s Gigabit Ethernet Bypass server adapters include an on board WDT (Watch Dog Timer) controller. The adapter’s software drivers or software application can write commands to the on board WDT controller. The adapter’s software drivers, WDT controller and the Bypass circuitry provide an interface that control and manage the mode of the adapter.
